Howdy!,
I'm descended from at least 3 different Williams branches,
Zopher Williams-> Elias----> Moses ---> Morgan(Glamorgan,Wales)->Wm. the Conq..
there are some awesome GEDCOM files on Rootsweb that go back to 6th century for anyone interested try this one
wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=PED&db=willperf&id=I058263
Other branches include Abigail Williams,m. John Ludington, Willoughby II--> Willoughby Wliiams, m. Abigail Alling 1735-1776 New Haven CT, of Revolutionary War fame where I am at a dead end , one source said a Sarah Williams was sister of Willoughby Williams I with both of their father being a William Williams. HAve been unable to corroborate.
The other dead end currently is Mary Williams 1735?-1783? Monmouth,NJ, Federick Co.,VA, m. Richard Hulse, daughter of Joseph Williams. Trying to figure out which Joseph as there are several.
Also interested in what relationship all of the other Willoughby William's born later that 1776 mostly in the south have to this one.
They all seem to be in New Haven, CT area at some point in th early-mid 1700's.
Anyone who has any insight or info on these would be appreciated.
Also any relation to Thos. Williams of Albany... I have ggrandfathers amoung most of the founding families from Beverwyck and New Amsterdam in general and there seems to be some common threads to the area which is not terribly far from Westerfield,New Haven, CT. where many of the branches seem to meet
I have quite a bit of information on the Zopher Williams line but am always interested in more. Trying to track down the Zopher Williams family bible that was last known to be in possession of one of my dad's cousins in the midwest.
Thanks,
